Carers ACT

Carers ACT is an extremely important resource for carers of the elderly and disabled as well as foster and kinship carers throughout the Canberra region. They are a not-for-profit organisation which works towards supporting, connecting and empowering carers, through providing advocacy services, educational workshops, social and therapeutic opportunities, and counselling.

As a Carer Gateway service provider, Carers ACT, can offer a range of services for carers of children with disability. You can learn more about Carer Gateway services at Carer Gateway – Carers ACT

For kinship carers the most important service that Carers ACT provide is their advocacy service. This is a free and independent service, which aims to assist carers in their caring role through support and guidance to navigate the care system, communicate effectively with agencies, develop self-advocacy skills, and connect with appropriate information and services. To learn more about this service, email kinship.fostercare@carersact.org.au or call 6296 9900 or 0447 632 067.

Kinship and foster carers in the Canberra region are now able to register as a carer with Carers ACT, which will give you access to the full range of activities, education and events that they have to offer.
